Our first trip abroad with our toddler son took us to a family friendly Spanish island. It was OK, but it certainly was different from the way we traveled before we had children. Our second child, an easy-going girl, was four months old when we drove to Tuscany. This was the holiday when we decided to look beyond the typical family holidays and teach our children how to travel. Since then we took them on a weekend trip to Helsinki, a Californian road trip, a Greek island adventure and a mum-and-daughter weekend to London.
My name is Rafke Severens (1976) and I live in Leiden, the Netherlands with Mark and our two children (2006 and 2008). I work as an independent communication and PR consultant. I enjoy reading, going places nearby and far away, meeting new people (in real life and on social media) and learning new things. With this blog I hope to inspire you to show your children around our globe. Please feel free to look around and let me know at rafke @ expeditionfamilytravel.com what you think of my travel ideas for city trips and holiday destinations.
